Etsy’s 20 MB file limit: how to fit a full bundle
Etsy digital listings allow at most 5 files, each under 20 MB. A proper 14-size, 300 DPI art bundle blows past 100 MB — here is how to fit it without ruining quality or resorting to Google Drive links.
The rules, exactly
Per digital listing, Etsy accepts up to 5 downloadable files with a hard cap of 20 MB each — 100 MB of total headroom. Uploads over the cap fail silently in the listing editor, which is usually how sellers discover the rule.
What doesn’t work
One giant ZIP exceeds 20 MB immediately. Google Drive link PDFs work but cost you: buyers expect instant downloads, links break, and reviews mention it. Crushing quality across the board (exporting everything at q70) fits the limit but degrades every file, including the small ones that fit easily.
What works: smart packing + targeted quality
The reliable approach is bin-packing the sizes into at most 5 ZIPs of under 20 MB each, and only if a bundle still cannot fit, re-encoding from the original at the gentlest quality step that works — 95 first, which is visually indistinguishable from 100. In a 101-artwork test of this method, quality 95 was sufficient in every single case where any reduction was needed at all; most bundles fit at full quality.
That packing logic is exactly what ResizArt’s Etsy mode automates: every batch comes out as at most 5 ZIPs, each verified under 20 MB, with a log entry telling you if and where quality was adjusted. One upload, zero rejections.
